New Facility for Rugby Gymnastics Club

Rugby Gymnasium, Wilten Construction

Rugby Gymnastics Club is moving to their brand new state of the art £1.9m facility at Kilsby Lane.

Phase 1 of the works have been completed and the building pass to the club for phase 2 works to begin with the help of the local community.

The purpose-built facility will provide 1,000 of members with further unique opportunities for physical and social development and enable elite gymnasts to accelerate their progress.

Phase 1 Works- Rugby Gymnastics Club

Working alongside side Wilten Constrcution and IMA Architects the works were completed for the club in a 26 week programme.

We were pleased to provided civil and structural support on this new high end gymnastics centre in Rugby. Works included design of foundations, bespoke gymnastic floor pits, drainage designs and external volumetrics and finishes design.

The project comprised a steel portal framed building which is generally a large double height space, but with a section of two storey offices and facilities to the front of the building. Externally the project comprised construction of a new carpark and access road.

With a tight budget we had to work closely with the contractor to manage costs.

Cost saving measures included but not limited to: –

  • Manipulating levels to avoid excess cart off,
  • Relocation of desiccated ground from trees and hedges to avoid deep foundations and heave protection
  • Utilising natural drainage features such as swales to convey and store rainwater. This thereby reduces the need for expensive underground attenuation tanks and also improves local biodiversity in the process.

We forward to sharing photos of the completed facility seeing the hard work of the local community!
