East Midlands Institute of Technology progress

Works are progressing at Derby College’s Roundhouse Campus with the expansion of the Stephenson Building. When completed in September 2024, this will add 1100 square metres to house new facilities for construction, engineering, digital and leadership training.

The EMIoT is a partnership between Derby College Group, the University of Derby, Loughborough College, and Loughborough University. In collaboration with businesses it will create and deliver high-quality technical training qualifications; designed to develop careers and address skills gaps. It will focus in particular on developing advanced skills for the digital and low carbon sectors.

The teams commitment to sustainability

Working closely with the design team, we ensured that the building was designed to achieve net zero energy consumption. It will feature cutting-edge technology, enabling teaching to be conducted both on-site and globally.

The college is excited to announce the recent installation of 144 Trina Solar Monocrystalline panels, each measuring 1.8m x 1.2m, on the roof of the new building. The design team carefully ensured the structure could support the panels’ load.
