The new brand new state of the art Care Home, Lonsdale Mews for Care UK in Quorn is complete! We were thrilled to be part of the design team!

The £6m project comprises of 64 residential bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and associated facilities. The land was previoulsy home to Quorn Football Club. The purpose-built facility provides for Elderly and Dementia Care as well as for Younger People living with Dementia (YPD).

Clegg Construction continulously keep in contact with local residents and businesses to advise them of what the project involved to allay any concerns they may have. This engagement continued throughout the project, with regular newsletters distributed to local residents, advising them of current and planned works.

We provided a variety of services for the project including Structural Engineering, Highways & Infrastructure, Flood Risk & Drainage and Temporary works.

The structural design of two storey Care Home was a traditional load bearing masonry construction including piled foundations, precast floors and timber trussed roof.

Our Engineers have shared some insights on the project below-

As the site was built over a historic landfill there had to be careful consideration required to ensure structural details were coordinated with gas protection requirement.

All foundations and drainage had to be set as shallow as practical to limit export.

A detailed cut and fill analysis was required to negate requirement for removal of landfill material from site.

We also assisted with undertaking the design and detailing of the new S104 foul and surface water sewers and the drainage and external works including detailing of appropriate Suds.

The Care home was accredited timeously after Practical Completion as part of the Care UK programme for operational readiness. We were pleased to be a part of such a great project!
